Through processes of deep listening and relationship building, the Fleet Science Center works with neighborhoods to understand community aspirations and codevelop ways in which science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) can support the achievement of those aspirations. We lead, support or participate actively in community STEM networks around San Diego County.

Neighborhood Networks bring together partners, living or working in a community, to understand community needs and aspirations. Neighborhood Networks convene and involve diverse partners, including community members; schools and school districts; community-based organizations; after-school and out-of-school time providers; museums, science centers and zoos; higher education and research institutions; business and industry; professional, trade and student associations; libraries; family and parent organizations; and local government.

Neighborhood Networks are great platforms for local organizations to build relationships and work together to reach common goals through collective action.

Current Neighborhood Networks include

  • Barrio Logan
  • Clairemont
  • Escondido
  • National City
  • San Ysidro
  • Southeastern San Diego
